Arielle Reed

Writer, Reader, Artist

I am an intensely passionate writer and artist who loves YA sci-fi & fantasy books, vegetarian meatloaf, being outside, and anything cuddly. My crazy curly hair comes from my German, Eastern European, and African-American roots. Depending on the day, I can be found wearing anything from flowing bohemian skirts and buddhist prayer beads to dark red lipstick and a vampire-slaying leather jacket.

I have been lucky enough to attend the University of Pittsburgh as an English Writing major with a concentration in Fiction Writing, a Studio Arts minor, and Children's Literature and Public and Professional Writing Certificates.

I have a special interest in young adult and children's Literature, as well as the feminist and sociological undertones that express themselves in entertainment for the youth.

My lengthy list of aspirations include finishing my own YA novel-in-the-works (plus writing at least ten more) as well as penning a book of short stories, and book of poems. I hope to work with a publishing company or literary agency after I graduate from college, and would love to one day have a successful writing career, a family, and two giant dogs. I am determined to paint until I can't hold a brush anymore, and write as much as I can, even if no-one is reading.

I have learned to embrace my quirks, and am thankful to be part of a community that largely views uniqueness as a creative strength rather than a weakness.
